Art has been a part of Andrew’s life since childhood, and his joy of painting led him to a career in the animation and film industry as a Digital Matte Painter.
Andrew excels in producing immersive environments that enhance the cinematic experience. With a strong foundation in traditional art and design fundamentals, he integrates these skills into motion pictures and animated feature films. Whether adding to the dramatic texture of a scene with believable digital matte paintings or creating inspiring concept art, the main emphasis of Andrew’s work is to represent the effect of light on form to achieve an enhanced illusion of reality.
Andrew’s visual effects journey began when he was recruited by ImageMovers Digital in Novato, California to work on Disney’s A Christmas Carol and Mars Needs Moms. While there, he collaborated with talented artists, refining his skills and absorbing inspiration from esteemed mentors.
Soon after, he was brought on board to work alongside the creative team at Aardman Animations in Bristol, UK on the Academy Award-nominated production of The Pirates! Band of Misfits, directed by Peter Lord.
Venturing into the Canadian Visual Effects Industry, Andrew worked on notable films like R.I.P.D. and reunited with former colleagues to contribute matte paintings for Robert Zemeckis’ film The Walk.
His tenure at Sony Pictures Imageworks saw Andrew’s involvement in acclaimed projects such as Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse, recipient of the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award.
Andrew’s exceptional matte painting work is featured in films such as Men In Black: International, Spider-man: Far From Home, and NETFLIX Animation’s zany hit, The Mitchells Vs. The Machines. He also contributed to Warner Bros. Animation’s DC League of Super-Pets, featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Keanu Reeves.
His portfolio expands further with contributions to the modern day musical comedy Spirited, starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrel, and the J.J. Abrams suspense thriller, “Lou”.
Andrew most recently contributed to the long-awaited fantasy epic based on the classic role playing game, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves!
